A batting tee is the most important training tool you can use in baseball and softball.
By using a batting tee, the hitter only needs to concentrate on developing the same consistent swing everytime. This is how you groove a swing, through muscle memory. The last thing a hitter needs to be thinking in a game is about their swing mechanics. It is hard enough concentrating on the pitched ball.
Most kids think they do not need to hit off a tee after T-Ball. The opposite is true. Most players will find that as they move up to higher levels of play, the batting tee is actually used more. The average Pro ballplayer takes as much as 80% percent of their swings off a batting tee. In some cases as much as 300-500 balls a day. We should probably call them all Hitting tees because the batting tee is where you learn to HIT!
