The Mühl - the ultimate training bat - along with The Mühl Kicker and The Mühl Stub are handmade in the U.S.A. by Gatekey Manufacturing Company, dba Muhl Tech, a family-owned and operated business.

Gatekey was started in 1995 by Ben Mühlhausen, who was looking for a product that would help give hitters an edge over today's high performance pitching mechanics and techniques. After a lot of study and experimentation Ben developed the patented Mühl, the ultimate training bat. Further research and discussions with ball players and coaches led to the inventions of two associated products, The Mühl Kicker and The Mühl Stub. The Kicker was designed to help batters perfect the timing of their swing, ensuring a higher percentage of contact with "the sweet spot" of the bat. The Stub was developed for hitters to utilize in one-handed batting drills, and can also be used as a fine on-deck warm up bat. Further research and led to the development of the Tru-Toss and Lance Berkman Training Station, which both have patents pending.

The Mühl Training Bats, Tru-Toss and Lance Berkman Training Station are manufactured with loving care by Ben, his wife Donna and their sons Wesley and Nathan, at their manufacturing facility located in beautiful Wharton, Texas.
